Vikings - Game Engines project

Vikings

Intro.

This is my first 3D game developed in Unity 3D, which is a group project for Game Engines subject at the Jaume I University (may 2018).

Summary of the game

The purpose of this project was, on the one hand, to learn how to develop a demo of a 3D game and, on the other hand, to learn about some of the specific aspects in Unity: NavMesh, Occlusion Culling, Animation trees, coroutines, etc. Also with this project we learnt how to do procedural caves.

The team

This project was made with a group of 3 students from Jaume I University.

Concept of the game

A roguelike game with a viking aesthetics with three zones: village, forest and cave. The village will be predfined with NPCs that walk around and give quests to the player. The forest and the cave will be procedurally generated each time they are accessed. The goal that drives the player to explore the forest and the cave is the lack of food in the village as well as to find some objects you need to bring to the NPCs. In these scenarios you will find dangers, such as bears, Viking pirates, wolves, slimes, etc. These enemies will have various behaviours: some will patrol the area, others will chase you as soon as you enter in the zone, other will not react until you enter its area of influence. The interface of the game is simple: life bar and a stamina bar. The player can run, attack, speak and dodge. The act of attacking and dodging are conditioned to the amount of stamina you have.
