Summary

The mission of DONES is to provide a neutron source producing high energy neutrons at sufficient intensity and irradiation volume in order to:

• Generate materials irradiation test data for design, licensing, construction and safe operation of the fusion demonstration power reactor (DEMO).
• Generate a data base for benchmarking of radiation responses of materials hand in hand with computational material science.

Description of my work

I work as a researcher at University of Granada in the ValeriaLab group. Right now, our main project is the IFMIF-DONES project. My main role here is programming a simulation for remote handling maintenance and logistics in IFMIF-DONES. With my coworkers, we develop a VR simulation for Oculus Quest, HTC Vive and Pimax. Also we have a PC based version of our simulation and we are exploring haptic devices such as Virtuous 6D.
